We traveled to northern India into the high mountains of the Garhwal Himal for a 14-day trek. The weather was somewhat spotty with blue sky mornings and showers in the afternoon. A large snowstorm hit the area as we crossed our first high pass at over 15,000 ft and stayed with us until we spent a couple of nights in the town of Gangotri. There was too much snow for us to complete our trek over the Kalindi Pass at 19,000 ft. However, we were able to hike up the Bhagirathi Valley to the source of the Ganges River at Gaumukh. We had great weather along the way but there was too much snow to go much further than to Tapovan and back. We had some rest days and a raft trip along the Ganges River near Rishikesh to fill in the time. We ended our trip with a visit to Ranthambore National Park and its tigers near Agra.
