Ethiopia, 2011
We returned to Ethiopia in November & December, 2011 to visit the southern tribes near the Omo River and Lake Turkana. We previously visited Ethiopia in 1995, focusing on the Simien Mountains, Gondar, Lake Tana and Lalibela. This time we focused on the southern tribes near the Omo River, the Bale Mountains and Axum. We visited the Konso, Hamer, Dassanach, Mursi and Dorze tribes south of Arba Minch. We traveled to the highlands of the Bale Mountains to see Ethiopian Wolf, Bale Monkeys and Mountain Nyala. We returned to Awash National Park to see Awash Falls and oryx. We last visited Awash National Park 16 years ago. Lastly we visited Axum and its ancient stelae.
