Churchill, Manitoba, 2012

We visited Churchill, Manitoba in November, 2012 to see polar bears. We had three intense days on the tundra traveling in "Polar Rovers", large bus-like vehicles with wide 5-foot tires and a rear outdoor platform. We were about 10 feet off the tundra, just high enough to be out of the reach of the largest polar bear! Polar bears gather near Churchill, Manitoba, Canada waiting for the ice to freeze on Hudson Bay. Once the ice forms, they can walk out to hunt for seals. We posted more details on our blog.
